Graffiti is something that was never a huge part of my artistic repertoire growing up. I had admired it in passing, but had never truly considered pursuing it as a legitimate art form. I only really began to see graffiti as “fine art” when I came to VCU to pursue graphic design. Richmond is full of all sorts of mural art, tags, and other forms of street art that I had never even thought existed.

My journey through this project is to experience a whole new side to art making with the help of a local graffiti artist. I become a graffiti artist with the tag of "Kil" and provide a how-to on the materials, history, and creation of different forms of street art.

I document my learning and teaching process in a publication and create a series of graffiti paraphernalia which the reader may use in their own graffiti-making journey.
