Shelf Lives

Shelf lives is a fluid body of research exploring the theories of collection. Intimate moments between the inanimate toys with the gravity of human reality. Items on the shelf grow conscious with human qualities; dubbed with names, ages, and histories, they are the overlooked observers being discarded by the living. This book explores the subconscious attraction between collector and collection, the act of ambiguous pasts merging to strengthen the present.

Collage with three images with hands in white gloves and gold costume jewelry holding a rectangular book. The background is a furry dark blue color. In one image the book reads “shelf lives” in yellow text. In another image it is a spread of a red shape with cursive “object oriented ontology” in the shape. In the third image is a spread showing collages of various toys.
