With my hands at my sewing machine, I have marshaled my time toward the creation of a line of prototypical zero-waste garments. Driven by an awareness of the ethical and environmental violence perpetrated by fashion companies feeding our obsession with the consumption of fast fashion, I have reclaimed the process of the design and creation of clothes, as personal and individual as the body which will wear them. Central in the conception of this process is the potential for metamorphoses housed in upcycled material. By rescuing discarded fabric from landfills in its linear journey from fabrication to consumption to disposal, I attempt to bend this linear journey into a closed loop. My lookbook displays this possibility for metamorphosis of materials within the context of the climate catastrophe and venerates the process of the creation of fashion, instead of its mass production.
The bottom line is:
"If we have no peace, it’s because we have forgotten that we belong to each other"
